Thiru Kandamennum Kadinagar is the first divyadesam you encounter enroute RIshikesh to Badrinath. Its near the confluence of the mighty Alakananda river and the emerald green Bhaagirathi river. Both mix to form the holy river Ganges at Devaprayag. Perumal here is Neelameghap perumal and the locals call it as Raghunathji mandir. Check notes for further information.
Prayag is the holy confluence of rivers. Its believed that river Saraswati from underneath also joins Bhagirathi and Alakananda to form Ganga. Devprayag is indeed named aptly as one can feel the presence of divinity here. The surrounding hills and the running rivers with beautiful colours creates a heaven like place. After taking a dip in the ice cold water of dev prayag , climb the hill to go to the temple. The Raghunathji mandir fills one with peace and quiet and the Lord stands there beautifully more than 6.5 feet tall. Periyazhvar has sung 11 beauitiful paasurams on this divyasthalam .
