When Ma:rane:ri nambi (a great Sri Vaishnava and born in the chathurtha varnam) , disciple of A:lavanda:r attains paramapadam, Periya nambi (Maha pu:rna) performed the last rites (charama kainkarya).

Note:

Jai Sriman Narayana
When Ma:rane:ri nambi (a great Sri Vaishnava and born in the chathurtha varnam) , disciple of A:lavanda:r attains paramapadam, Periya nambi (Maha pu:rna) performed the last rites (charama kainkarya). Hence some locals complain to Swami Ramanuja. Then periya nambi explains that he acted according to Azhvars wishes that glorifies Bhagavatha Seshathvam as mentioned in thiruvaimozhi, payilum chudaroLi (3.7) and nedumArkkadimai (8.10) padhigams. He tells Swami Ramanuja “Rama performed last rites for Jatayu. I am neither greater than Rama or Mara Nera nambi lower than Jatayu. We should not wait for someone else to perform Bhagavatha kainkaryam but do it ourselves”. Swami Ramanuja is pleased hearing periya nambi and offers his obeisances to him.
