Posted On : 01-05-2018 ANSWER : Sri: ku:rmam temple in Sri:ka:kulam, Andhra Pradesh Note : Bhagavad Ra:ma:nuja visited Sri:ku:rmam temple in 11 century AD as part of piligrimage. The main deity was mistakenly worshipped as Shiva lingam, facing east with Dhwaja stham in that direction. However, the locals wanted some sort of divine proof before their eyes and challenged Bhagavad Ra:ma:nuja if the deity is indeed form of Vishnu, can He change the direction now? On Bhagavad Ra:ma:nuja's prayers, the main deity did turn around the next day to dismay of all locals. The second flag post (dhwaja sthambham) was installed in the western direction since then. This is the only temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu in ku:rma avata:ra. Bhagavad Ra:ma:nuja was instrumental in setting up proper practices in many ancient temples like Tirumala, Srirangam, Melkote, etc. |
