Back in 1954 when the commute to Badrinath hills was harder than one can imagine and when weather was much more colder for commoners, HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji traveled along with 300 priests and devotees to conduct a 48 day-chanting of 10 crore maha:manthra japa with 1 crore havana to enlighten everyone about the greatness of the divine place.

HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji desired that everyone, including the people of South India, visit and get the grace of the Lord on the divine land, the Nara and Narayana mountains. Thus, a well-thought through facility called Ashtakshari Kshethra with hall and rooms was constructed for visitor devotees.

Sriman Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad, the then President of India utilized the facility to deliver his address to the public when a pre-arranged dais elsewhere on the hills was hit by storm during his tenure.

Today, fueled by the desire of the organizers, HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji’s ‘statue’ is humbly inaugurated as an expression of gratitude for inspiring, encouraging, enlightening, empowering many seekers, and providing one interested with a shelter at Badrinath.

It was on this land of hills where Vedavyas maharshi ‘wrote’ all the puranas. However, he looked dissatisfied even after ‘writing’ all these puranas, each of which spoke about divine beings like Varuna, Agni, Indra, Brahma etc. It was then Narada Maharshi appeared before Vedavyas on these hills and advised him to ‘compose’ Srimad Bhagavatha, the scripture that reveals all about everything of God alone.

Bhagavatham has details about everything, including the galaxies, and many more that are part of the visible spectrum. How is the scripture referred to as speaking of only God?

Everything visible is God’s physical form. When one wants to describe a person, we describe his physical characteristics as well as the qualities, his activities, his possessions etc. Similarly, Srimad Bhagavatha is all about God, His physical form – the entire akhila:nda ko:ti brahma:nda, the complete universe. It also speaks of His innumerable divine qualities. It also speaks of His avatha:rs, incarnations including Sri Krushna avatha:r in the tenth skanda, section.

Pujya Sri Ahobila Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji inspired by the divine place, is set to chant Srimad Bhagavatha in 7 days at the Ashta:kshari Kshethra in Badrinath. It is said that whoever listens to Bhagavatha get liberated from all the karma, limitations/bondage.

If that is the case, then why did only king Pari:kshith get ‘moksha’ when there were hundreds of other who listened to Srimad Bhagavatha katha, the story of God from Sri Suka Maharshi?

Although hundreds were there along with king Parikshith when Sri Suka Maharshi was telling the story of God, Srimad Bhagavatha, it was only king Parikshith and Sri Suka Maharshi who didn’t feel hunger or a need to rest for the entire duration. They were completely immersed in the glory of God…

HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji educated many about this holy land of hills where such great epics took birth in Vya:sa guha and where many other divine souls spent their time in places such as Ganesh guha, Urvasi mount, Neelakant mount and more…
