Bhagavat Gita is the quintessence of Mahabharata and a sermon by Sri Krishna, while Vishnu Sahasra Nama is a prayer sung by Bheeshma as his parting message to Pandavas. Actually Krishna himself requested Bheeshma to reveal these stotras to Pandavas.
