Companies like Forbes and Bloomberg regularly publish real-time and annual lists of the world’s wealthiest individuals. These lists typically feature people who actively work toward financial success, amassing wealth, assets, and possessions.

However, there is another category of individuals whose focus is not on accumulating wealth, yet it still finds its way to them. The first example of such a person in history is Bharatha, the brother of Lord Rama.

When Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years, one of the updates that Bharatha shared with Him was…
krutham dasagunam maya
wealth has got multiplied tenfold

How did the wealth in Ayodhya multiply tenfold when Bharatha’s focus was not on wealth?

Bharatha was not concerned with accumulating wealth; rather, his focus was on serving Ayodhya in devotion to Lord Rama. He dedicated himself to fulfilling Rama’s expectations, serving both the land and its people. Throughout his time in Rama’s absence, Bharatha worshiped Rama’s padukas—the footwear he had taken as a symbol of Rama—and submitted all his accounts before them each day.

He never worried about the outcomes. His only concern was serving as an instrument of Rama.

Who can help us generate such wealth?

First, we must have unwavering faith in the approach, just as Bharatha demonstrated. Secondly, there are two key principles:

What kind of wealth should we aim for?
In this context, wealth is not what is earned for personal gain, but rather that which can be used for the benefit of others.

Who can help you generate such wealth?
Whatever we earn should be submitted to someone who can transform it for the greater good, benefiting not just ourselves, but the world at large. This can only be done by the Supreme Lord. No one else has the power to accomplish this.

Why is this possible only through the Supreme Lord? Because of a divine quality evident in one of His avatars, Sri Rama. Rama did not concern Himself with His own welfare or even that of His people. His sole focus was on protecting those who sought refuge in Him or those in need.

This divine quality of Rama is celebrated as His upasana—His unwavering concern to the land and people under His protection.

ra:maha ra:jyam upa:sithva:
bramha lo:kam prayacchathi
dasa varsha sahasra:ni
dasa varsha sathaanicha:ni

Can you imagine dedicating yourself to the upasana of the country you live in, or even the world? That is precisely what Rama did! He surrendered Himself completely to the protection of the world.

This is why one must offer their work to the Supreme Lord, so that He can guide it toward its rightful purpose.

When you understand and practice these two principles, only then will true ‘wealth’ come to you. You no longer need to focus on amassing wealth; it will come to you naturally.

In that sense, you will become the wealthiest person in the world. Anyone who follows this path will become the wealthiest of all.

Do you wish to be one of them?
