“I heard it was snowflakes attending the ‘Foundation stone’ ceremony at Mukthinath last year. This year, it is rays of Sun attending the ‘Consecration’ ceremony’. Looks like divine forces of nature were taking turns to be with Swamiji in Mukthinath…” says a devotee with overwhelmed joy during the Mukthinath Yatra 2024.

Sri: Para:sara bhattar listed the names of divine places visited by Ramanujacharya. One of those divine places is Sa:lagra:magiri, i.e. Mukthinath. Following Ramanujacharya, several other acharyas of various philosophies visited Mukthinath to offer prayers to Lord in the self-manifested form, sa:ligra:ma at Mukthinath.

In 1962, HH Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji visited Mukthinath and consecrated the 88th (of 108) Sri Ramasthupas at Mukthinath. The 86th Sri Ramasthupa was consecrated at Janakapuri. The 87th Ramasthupa was consecrated at Devaghat. Their travel time to Mukthinath by foot was 15 days. Many years passed by. After learning that the government authorities demolished the sthupa at Mukthinath, we discussed with the authorities at Kathmandu the need to reconstruct the sthupa and the need to preserve history. The government agreed and allocated an area of 40 by 40 feet.

Consecrating Sri Ramasthupa, a pillar of devotion for Lord Rama, in Mukthinath is an instrumental offering at the divine feet of our acharya.

We are blessed to take part in the completion and consecration of 27 foot majestic Sri Ramasthupa. This auspicious day is the 9th day of the 9th month in the year 2024. [As per Vedic calendar] it is the year named kro:dhi, in the period of dakshina:yana, in the month of bha:drapada, in the fortnight of suklapaksha, on the thithi of shashti, on the star of visa:kha (the star of Nammalwar’s birth).

The pillar of devotion for Lord Rama at Mukthinath is now an abode of Lord Rama at the time of coronation. The pillar also hosts alwars who sang the glory of Lord…
