15 Qualities of a Disciple Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami

Student: [humbly] May I know where these verses come from Swami?

This is from Nya:sa vimsathi by Sri: Ve:da:ntha De:sika….

Student: [humbly] May I know what makes these authoritative Swami?

This and other such great texts practiced by our acharyas follow the Vedic wisdom. Vedas are apaurushe:ya and hence authoritative and reliable means of knowledge.

Student: [humbly] Could you kindly explain what does apaurushe:ya mean Swami?

Any sabda, sound, that has never altered nor will alter in any way is apourushe:ya sabda, like the sound of waves, or the roar of a lion. Ve:da sabda is also apourushe:ya. These sounds have reached us in an undistorted form through a lineage of rushis and acharyas. Thus, they are authoritative and reliable means of knowledge.

Unfortunately, these days, the only living being who is not hesitating to distort what has been passed onto him from his ancestors and acting as per his wish is human being.

How many of us follow dharma as prescribed and passed onto by our ancestors? How many of us follow daily routines such as eating habits, dressing manners, way of speaking, process and procedures as our ancestors did?

Have we ever heard a calf do anything differently than a cow? Have we ever heard of a peacock doing anything differently than its parent peacock? Unless we ‘train’ the other beings, their natural ways have remained the same forever. Thus, apourushe:ya is that which has never been altered by any intervention…
