Prajna is a platform that trains minds to learn better. One of the techniques Prajna teachers use is rote memorization. Modern methods of teaching do not necessarily approve rote memorization as a technique to improve a child’s knowledge.

However, it is proven that rote memorization trains a child’s mind to become efficient retriever and aids in recollecting learnt concepts.

dasasu dikshu aprathihatha
Dasaratha’s chariot can go in 10 ways
4 directions + 4 corners + above + below
[north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest and the directions of up and down]

Our minds also must be able to jump into any angle, direction to retrieve what it needs from the storage. Currently, we are not enabling the mind to use even 1/20,000th of the brain’s ability. Rote memorization supports this to a great extent.

Through this technique, hundreds of prajna students are able to retrieve verses from 18 chapters of Bhagavad Githa jumping back and forth in whatever manner needed. There are various such avadha:na prakriyas that students are able to perform and awe everyone.

Vedas are the divine sounds responsible for the creation of the entire universe. Whatever the Vedas have revealed, sruthis, ithihasa, purana, a:gama, prabandhas clarify them in simpler ways. Students learning Vedas use rote memorization as one of the key methods.

Why Guru when God is accessible to everyone ?

An interesting conversation with a kid…

  • Kid: Is God all powerful?
  • Swamiji: Yes
  • Kid: Does God listen to me?
  • Swamiji: Yes
  • Kid: Does God understand what I say?
  • Swamiji: Yes
  • Kid: Then, why do we need a Guru?

  • Kid: Then, why do we need a Guru?
  • Swamiji: What do you need in order to see things?
  • Kid: Eyes
  • Swamiji: Do you have them?
  • Kid: Yes
  • Swamiji: Can you see your face with your eyes by yourself?
  • Kid: Humm, I will need a mirror.
  • Swamiji: Why? Is there an issue with your eyes or your face?
  • Kid: No.
  • Swamiji: Then, why do you need a mirror?
  • Kid: It shows my face to me.
  • Swamiji: Similarly, a guru shows who you truly are, within and whole.
  • Kid: Oh, that makes sense now.
  • Swamiji: A mirror does not modify or alter anything. It shows to you how you look like. It helps you in decorating yourself.
  • Kid: True.

  • Swamiji: Like a sculptor who just carves a stone and makes a beautiful sculpture, a guru takes away flaws such as ignorance and arrogance from you and reveals your inherent natural potential for attaining the highest blissful state of existence.

No life without the warmth of this ‘water’!

There was a beautiful lotus in a pond. It blooms and shines with the energy from Sun. After a while, it felt that it need not stay in water. Thinking that Sun is the source of its life, it came out of water. However, the same Sun which helped it to bloom began to wither it as soon as it came out of the water.

Number of branches in Vedas: 1131
Currently available branches: 10
Lost branches: 1121

In a Vedic conference held in Prayagraj by Mr. Ashok Singhal in the year 1992/93, there was a scholar who practices Maithrayani branch of Veda. He was the one of the last two scholars who has learnt this branch. He is called Naana ji, from Maharashtra. He had one student named Parameshwar Dikshit in Chidambaram. Jeeyar Educational Trust sent a few students to learn Maithrayani branch from him. Today, there are 70 scholars who knows the branch. Sriman Santosh ji, the resident priest in London, UK is one among them.

Thus, the 11th branch took its breath in Jeeyar Educational Trust when it was breathing it’s last in the year 1992.
