Did you ever wonder how kings like Ashoka communicated with their troops before and after wartime? The current system that uses mic came into picture in 1800s. Ashoka ruled most of the Indian subcontinent more than 2200 years before mic was invented.

Today, we see the utilization of mic in everyday life so much that it is impossible to understand how mass communication existed in those days without it. However, we must realize that there must be an effective system in place that transmitted messages without any distortion to the masses. People talk about human messengers, bird messengers, etc in those days. In addition, there must have been other secret ways such as sound transmission in wave format through pillar holes in certain angles that helped reach mass audiences in wartimes; with no side-effects, unlike our current digital transmission.

Do you also wonder what happened to India’s iron and steel manufacturing industry that was making more than 85% of world’s produce before Independence?

It is often a mystery to modern archaeologists and material scientists who call the Iron pillar at Qutub Minar as a ‘testimony to the high level of skill achieved by the ancient Indian iron smiths in the extraction and processing of iron’. It is known for its high resistance to corrosion in any weather.

We don’t have that system or technology in place now. It’s been diluted and we are importing lower quality steel from other countries. The recorded history of such skills, strategies and processes was either destroyed intentionally or wasn’t preserved with care.

The most famous Thirupathi temple also has no trace of its history prior to the 9th century. Ramanujacharya put in efforts to record it in the 11th century followed by Ramesan ji (Chief Secretary, AP) in recent times. How about its history prior to 9th century?

The great sages, Vya:sa and Valmiki have recorded ancient history as part of the Ramayan, Bhagavatha, Maha Bharatha scriptures etc. After that, there was no preserved history in such detail.

Our roots are strong, and it is important to go and look for traces of richness in arts, skills, lifestyle so we all can take pride, be grateful and benefit from that strength.
