Time is powerful. It is not influenced by or affected by anyone or anything. Veda refers to Time as one of the the three divine forms of God. It is called satthva sunya. The other two divine forms of God are prakruti, Nature and nitya vibhu:thi, the eternal abode of Lord. Veda states that even God obeys the laws of Time when He descends on this land to show us the way to lead life.

What does it mean to obey the laws of Time?

Time is like the flow of water in an ocean. There will be waves, big and small. Whenever there is a big wave, you must bend and you can let it pass through you. When there is a small wave, you can face it as it passes through you. However, you must continue to move forward. Time will throw challenges at you, big and small. Learn to understand how to work with each type of challenge.

The Wise timed one year as the duration from when [mango] trees give birth to new shoots to when they go back to their roots. Each of our lives in a body is depicted in the window of this one year duration. Body takes shape, grows, begins to deteriorate and ultimately reaches its source. That is why we celebrate the beginning of new year in this season when a mango tree gives new shoots indicating how one’s life begins with bearing a new body…

Sobhakruth, the name of the new year, suggests that if one takes a firm resolve to work on right deeds, one’s fame and glory will flourish with the divine grace of Lord in the form of time.
