International Yoga Day on 21st June 2015 @ JIVA Campus

Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fullfillment, harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and well-being.

On the occasion of International Yoga day, 21st June 2015,  Yoga session was conducted in JIVA Campus.

The program started at 7:00 am with prayer. HH Chinnajeeyar Swamiji, HH Ahobila Jeeyar Swamiji,  HH Devanatha Jeeyar Swamiji , Sri U. Ve. Samudrala Ranga Ramanujacharya  Swami and Yoga instructor Mr. Chandrakanth along with Mr. Siva Krishna lighted the lamp. All the dignitaries gave a small briefing on the importance of yoga.

Mr. Chandrakanth guided everyone while Mr. SivaKrishna gave demo of the yoga positions. All the JIVA students and devotees joined the event and did yoga. Other nearby schools could not participate due to heavy downpour.

Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, speaking on this occasion said that this is the first time Yoga Day is celebrated on such a large scale. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi initiated the whole process by approaching the UNO and getting a day exclusively allocated for Yoga by its members unanimously.

Yoga has many meanings . The word ‘yoga’ means a goal or a mode or existing together etc. Existing together harmoniously with all beings is a yoga.  Every activity in our life is a yoga. For example walking, breathing, sitting etc. Exercise is different from yoga. Exercise is done with effort but yoga is performed with ease. When done so only, it becomes yoga. Yoga poses were well ingrained in our lifestyles. For example, when a teacher punished a student in olden days, he used to ask the student to do “gunjeelu” which is now named “super brain of yoga” by the experts claiming that this exercise increases the memory power and faculties.

HH asked everyone to make yoga a part of their life and make their life happy and successful. The program concluded with pledge to do yoga as a daily routine under the leadership of HH Ahobila Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji and prayer. HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji gave mangalasasanams to Yoga teacher Chandrakanth, Siva Krishna, Dr. Ravinder Reddy for organizing the program, Neelaji, Govardhan ji and staff for facilitating the program.
