Ramachandra expressed that He does not miss His father, Dasaratha because He saw father’s warmth in the form of Lakshmana.

That is why, when Rama heard the news of Dasaratha’s death, He expressed sadness that Sitha lost her father-in-law. He expressed sadness that Lakshmana lost his father. However, He didn’t react about Himself because Lakshmana was looking after Him like a father would look after his son [protection – this is the relation between Guru and God, a Guru works to ‘protect’ God as an outpour of devotion and servitude].
