A teacher-student relationship is one of the most cherished relation in every one’s life, isn’t it? We may like or dislike them during the school time, but we all go back and celebrate the relation as time passes by. Because every moment in life reminds us of some of the good principles they tried to teach us.
Today, Remembering the day of Sri Pedha Jeeyar Swamiji’s Paramapadotsavam (the day of soul’s departure from this world), Swamiji shared the experiences with His teacher to all those hundreds who gathered at Divya Saketham to honour Swamiji!
Brief excerpt from Sri Swamiji about His acharya for all our dear readers:
One day, we participated in an event along with Kanchi Kamakoti Swamiji, Sri Jayendra Saraswati and other Jeeyars and Scholars, they all received us heartfully stating that, “We remember our own acharyas speaking greatly of Peddha Jeeyar Swamiji. Wherever we go, the Rama Krathu pillars that Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji offered as service to God are showing us the path and welcoming us!”
Sri Vanamamalai Jeeyar Swamiji asked Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji, “Srimannarayana…! When are you taking me from this body?’ (in Tamil), referring to Swamiji as God! Such was the glow of anushtanam in Pedha Jeeyar Swamiji.
Back in those days, there was a volunteer processing money order donations with Swamiji. Swamiji noticed him keeping aside the one-rupee donations, and working on higher amounts such as Rs.5 and more (1 rupee had so much more value then than it does now!). Swamiji said, “The interest and commitment of the person who sent one-rupee money order is in no way less to any other donations. Please process it with complete austerity and respond to each one of them with respects.”
Swamiji’s eye for one’s commitment and interest always took precedence over the quantity of the service offered. The 108 Rama Krathu pillars Swamiji positioned all across the nation is a mark of Swamiji’s utmost respect towards Ramayan, the great ancient history depicting secrets of immense Vedic literature! It involved humongous efforts than we can imagine. Going to new places and inspiring people to have the mark of pride, Sri Rama Krathu pillar in their town required lot of energy, enthusiasm and more!
The balance of account in the trust was always less than Rs.100 but the magnanimity of the work done by Swamiji is immeasurable. About 4000 scholars participated in All India Vedic Conference in Delhi that Swamiji organised is one of its kind! The 1008 kunda yagam at Tirumala Hills was one of the greatest Swadhyaya Jna:na Yajnas that has been executed so far. After Ramanujacharya, it was Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji who practised the principles of Vedic literature encompassing the entire society by making temples as centres of all learning. When there was a tsunami, Swamiji built homes for the suffering by selling his own properties with no hesitation!
There’s more and more to Swamiji than one can imagine. Let’s try to learn and lead life with guidance from such great acharya! We feel fortunate to have spent 5 years with Swamiji where the first trip itself with Swamiji was to all the Divya Desams! Everyone in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bradrinath, Mukthinath have all revered Swamiji saying, ‘We did not see Ramanujacharya Swami, but maybe He would have been like Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji..!’ Swamiji firmed the path Vedic wisdom.
The very revered Prativada Bhayankaram Annangaracharya Swami offered the following charama thaniyan, the sloka that tells the time and day that Swamiji left us, the form and qualities of Pedha Jeeyar Swamiji that can inspire and energise everyone of us!

ద్వాదశ్యాం పుణ్యతిథ్యాం దినకర దివసే కృత్తికాతారకాయాం |
