There are many activities and materials in the world that clean and clear different kinds of dirt at different levels.

When one takes a bath, the surface of the body gets cleaned, at least to an extent.
When one does physical exercise, the ‘dirt’ in muscles gets cleaned.
When one performs pra:na:ya:ma, the ‘dirt’ in one’s heart gets wiped off.
When one does dhya:na, the ‘dirt’ on the soul gets cleared.

God’s form bestows one with the best of the auspiciousness there is…

Does this mean one can stop taking a bath, exercising, doing pra:na:ya:ma or dhya:na to get all the other benefits?

No. We are not equipped to face the severe consequences from avoiding the prescribed activities. When and if one can attain such a state, even then God does not recommend anyone to stop performing ordained responsibilities of keeping the body in a healthy state.

If one avoids practicing responsibilities, others also do the same because people want to generally follow an easy way out. Hence, it is never recommended to stop doing the right activities.

-Bhagavad Gi:tha, chapter 3, verse 25

A temple or mandir at your home hosts that divine God’s form which can bestow you with the best of the auspiciousness there is. This form is called archa:mu:rthi. Take the opportunity to receive blessings, feel connected, and play your role effectively in God’s creation. Imagine how powerful you must feel for having the support and access to God. It all depends on the level of trust you have in the form.

To ensure that God’s form has ever growing multiplied power to shower us with all the auspiciousness, a:gama scriptures guide the priests to conduct the following annual celebrations.

  • Bramho:tsavam to celebrate the glory of the appearance day of God in the temple
  • Adhyayana utsavam to celebrate the glory of God as sung and described by the great devotees called alwars and acharyas
  • Pavithro:tsavam to seek forgiveness by priests for any human errors committed during nitya se:va

Arjuna asks Krushna to guide him with a form that is permanent because there is a departure time for any living being, including the incarnations of God in a moving form such as Rama, Krushna…

Sri Krushna then mentions about archa:mu:rthi with Arjuna.  He says…

ye: yattha: ma:m prapadyanthe:
tha:ms thatthaiva bhaja:my aham
whatever material you choose to make My form, I will accept it and be accessible to you

The most auspicious of all is God’s ru:pam, form. He is accessible in mandir of your home. He is also accessible in a temple where the society can benefit from by learning our dharma, sampradaya, samskara to lead a proper life collectively with the rest of the society.
