In 41 months, PM Narendra Modi gave 775 speeches. Some speeches such as Swami Vivekanandas’ in 1893 or Martin Luther Kings’ in 1963 are iconic standing the test of time and being passed from a generation to another…

What is the purpose of a su:kthi?

 active_passive-users

The purpose of a su:kthi is to give clarity to the listeners on what their responsibility is and their plan of action. If the speech is given on a specific day such as a Republic day, it is given to inspire the listeners of the significance and thus motivate them in actioning in response to the inspiration.

What are today’s su:kthis from the Elders?

Thousands of years ago, Bha:rath (now known as India) is declared as a nation of great culture and significance by the sage, Parasara maharshi in Vishnu Purana containing 6000 verses. H.H. Wilson who studied medicine in St Thomas’s Hospital in Central London, U.K. visited India as assistant surgeon on the Bengal establishment of the British East India Company.

He became deeply interested in the ancient language and literature of India. He translated the text Vishnu Purana into English. He exclaimed that there is no other work than Vishnu Purana that describes a land and its culture this vividly and in this magnanimous fashion!

Uttharam yath samudrascha
hima:dre:schaiva dakshina
varsham thath bha:ratham na:ma
bha:rathi: yathra santhathi
dhanya:vayam bha:ratha bhu:mi bha:ge
ey janma labdhva swashimaha sadaiva

– Vishnu Purana

Samadurala-ji

We are the descendants of the bha:ratha bhu:mi, that which was greatly ruled by Su:rya vams, the kings in the lineage of the Sun. We are are proud of (dhanya:vayam) to be taking breath (swashimaha) on this land…

Don’t say ‘unity in diversity’, we are not trying to find unity in different sects of people on this land. We all belong to one ja:thi, the bharatha ja:thi, the great community of bharatha! People may have been influenced over the centuries as many other communities invaded the land, brought in various cultures and traditions, but we hail and carry a culture that is the called bha:ratha culture.

How must this su:kthi inspire our plan of action, our responsibility now?

The Vishnu Purana text is available in the bookstores. However, how many of us will buy to read and understand it? Unless the content from these texts make its way into the academics of the schools and colleges, it will not be easy for all of us to align accordingly. The efforts in this direction have only just started by the government.

Twofold Action Plan

Let us:
– play our role in supporting and implementing the ancient methods and history in the academics
– eat, speak, dress, tie hair up, use clothes, carry on with the duties in a way that reflects the bha:rathi:ya culture

Isn’t it the way you are dressed, the way you address people, the way you conduct with others reflect your upbringing? Let us go back to our roots in all these aspects so we can walk the open doors that can bestow the greatest wisdom, the Vedas, for everyone on the planet!

And thus, Statue of Equality reflecting the bha:rathi:ya culture that has its roots from Vedic wisdom will soon be unveiled on Feb 5th 2022 – www.statueofequality.org. If the statue of Ramanujacharya is so huge, imagine the vast accommodating spirit of his heart. He embodies bha:rathi:yatha coming from the Vedic way of life of accommodating and embracing everyone equally as a limb in the body of the universal supreme power!
