Vishwaksena is one of the key players in the parivar, the ‘family’ of Lord Vishnu. He has unrestricted access to Lord Vishnu, a unique privilege. He does not speak much. He goes to Lord Vishnu with a statement. Lord Vishnu nods His head approving it without a question. With sasivarna, complexion of cream, Vishwaksena is also called Vishnu for having the divine ability/quality of being all-pervasive like Lord Vishnu.

Vishwaksena takes the responsibility of removing hurdles in the path of worshiping Lord Vishnu to all His devotees. He executes it with an ‘army’ of a variety of divine ‘task forces’. He belongs to the ‘mediator family’ who helps seekers in regaining their natural state of bliss.

What’s the difference between Vishwaksena and Ganesh?

When the supreme power takes a form and a name inorder to be accessible to us, there is a process that works with that form and a name that He chooses. When Lord is worshipped in the form of Vishnu, Vishwaksena is one of the key members in Lord’s ‘family’ along with Mother Lakshmi, Anantha, Garuda and all other nithyas (souls eternally united with God) and mukthas (souls liberated from karma and reunited with God).

Ganesh belongs to the parivar of Shiva. If you worship the supreme Lord in the form of Shiva, you will resort to Ganesh for removing all the obstacles in your path.

Isn’t God a form-less, name-less thaththva, reality?

Rushis say…

nathe: ru:pam na cha a:ka:raha na cha a:yudha:ni na cha a:spadam

God ‘does not’ have a form, a name, any weapon or need any reason..

It means that He is not limited to a specific form. He is not limited to a specific name such as Sri Rama or Sri Krishna. He has five divine weapons – sankha, chakra, gada, kadgam, saranga. It does not mean He does not know how to use a sixth weapon.

However, when He chooses the form of Vishnu, it is Vishwaksena who is appointed as one having unrestricted access and as the one who removes all the obstacles to the devotees of Lord Vishnu.

Let’s seek the recommended path of seeing Vishwaksena Swami’s grace to clear from all obstacles in serving Lord… May the supreme Lord Vishnu through Vishwaksena bless the land of Nepal and its people with health, wealth and glory.
