With the mangalasasanams of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Chinna Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamy, JET Chennai conducted 5th Annual Prajna Summer camp from May 8-13 2017 in Andhra Mahila Sabha school, Mylapore,Chennai.
The theme for this year’s camp was “Icon of Equality”.
Children immersed themselves in the life history of Sri Ramanujacharya who stood for Equality throughout His life in various aspects of life. They learnt about how He practiced equality with respect to birth, gender, knowledge and age.
In addition to the stories they learnt dhati panchakam, moukthikam and yoga. Yoga was guided by volunteers of Satyananda Yoga Center. This is the fifth consecutive year they have volunteered their services for Prajna Summer Camp.
Children sang bhajans and learnt spoken samskritam which was faciliatated by a friendly Samskrita Bharati volunteer. They enabled the children stage a simple Samskritam play depicting the story of Dhanurdasa. It was well received by the children, teachers and the parents alike.
Prasadam lunch and snacks were provided by JET.
The highlight of the camp is the group activity in the post lunch session – making posters on trivia on Ramanujacharya, different forms and names of Ramanujacharya in different divya desams and acharya ratna haram. They also performed Ramanuja Puja and begot the unparalleled “ramanuja sambandham”!
After five days of immersion in the life history of Ramanujacharya, as is the custom every year, the children performed all that they have learnt for their family and friends on the sixth day at the Valedictory Function. Sriman Ganesh, High Court Judge was the Chief Guest and he distributed prizes to the children.
Thirty five children participated and benefitted from the camp.
