Sahasra Galarchana is an event dedicated to Jagat Guru Ramanuja:charya. In this event more than 1000 devotees came together to sing glories of Sri Ramanuja honoring a:cha:rya’s 1000th birth year. This event is also to celebrate the 108th birth year of Periya Jeeyar Swamiji and the 60th thirunakshatram of HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji.
Sri Ramanuja is considered the most influential thinker of devotional Hinduism. He spread devotion and discipline in society through his nine works known as Navaratnas. Ramanuja:charya single highhandedly heralded a cultural storm, bearing the torch of original Vedic knowledge and opened the doors of the temples to each and every individual.
Annamacharya, a 15th century saint and poet, composed as many as 32,000 sankeerthanas on Lord Venkateswara and Ramanujacharya. When a king called Saluva Narasimha Raya, had demanded Annamacharya to compose similar poetry glorifying him instead of the Lord, the poet declined, saying his poetry and music were dedicated to the almighty alone, for which he was imprisoned by the king. That Annamacharya has written poetry glorifying the incarnations of Lord Vishnu and Ramanuja:charya. These were the songs that were sung in this grand event.
In the divine presence of H.H. Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, Sri Ramachandra Jeeyar Swamiji, H.H. Ahobila Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji and H.H. Devanatha Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji, Sahasra Galarchana was organised by Smn. Srinivas Yadav and his team. More than 2000 singers participated and sung the beautiful songs, melodiously on Bhagavad Sri Ramanuja:charya.
