What is Satyam ?

Satyam can be split as ‘sath’ + ‘ti’ + ‘yam’. Sath (సత్) refers to all entities in the existence which do not go through any change in their form (example: yourself , i.e. all of us, the souls). ‘Ti (తి)’ refers to all entities in the existence that constantly go through change in form (example: your body comprising of many elements of nature). ‘Yam’ (యమ్) refers to the process of uniting ‘sath (yourself)’ with ‘ti (a body)’ based on what ‘sath (you)’ acquire through your conduct.

Satyam therefore refers to the supreme quality of God that governs this existence, and very clearly answers all our questions on our own journey in this body. Annamacharya, a 15th century renowned singer devotee of Venkateswara Swami sang this great quality of the Supreme in the following lines…

నిత్యాత్ముడై ఉండి నిత్యుడై తానుండి

సత్యాత్ముడై ఉండి సత్యుడై తానుండి

Annamayya also swam across the same divine stream of God’s supreme qualities and composed thousands of songs on Venkateswara Swami.
