It is up to every individual who respects the life of fellow living creatures to ensure these laws are abided. State governments are exercising corresponding laws in prohibiting cow slaughter. As informed citizens, we can and must act against any violations to protect the interest of ourselves!

Why is cow protection pertinent for me?

When you have a light bulb in your house, protecting it is your responsibility and is for your benefit. A lamp does not need to be protected for itself. Similarly, a cow’s presence on this Earth is more useful to you than for itself.

Cows are respected and worshipped for reasons beyond ordinary comprehension, as thoroughly explained in Vedic scriptures.

In addition, there are undeniable benefits to the Earth, specifically for humankind, including:

Cow-urine: part of ancient ayurvedic medicine
Cow-dung: excellent fertilizer in organic farming, and great for use in many organic products such as diya, incense sticks etc.
Cow-dung: used in anti-radiation chips to safeguard mobile-phone users
Hoof: enhances the quality of soil
Milk: high-nutritional value

About 192 crore kilo of cow dung per day is produced in India at present. There is huge untapped potential in cow dung-based products.

Our country once had 72 native cow breeds before independence. Currently, approximately 20 remain. This is alarming. We are endangering a species. The world spends crores in protecting endangered species to prevent their extinction, however, these species do not contribute nearly as much to society as does the native Indian cow.

Cows are beyond comprehensible value. They have spiritual, medicinal, and life-enriching value. How can anyone take this easy? We must increase efforts to breed native cows. Even if cows do not yield milk, there are many other ways they can benefit us.

Let us support cow-protection groups by manufacturing, buying, and marketing native Indian cow-based organic products. This encourages cow owners to treat cows as economically viable ultimately sustaining breeding in India. Let us reporting any violation of the 2005 Supreme Court judgment and ensure state governments abide by the ruling of the court.
