Sri Krushna withdrew his avatar in Dwapara Yuga and that marked the beginning of Kali Yuga. In the 93rd year of this Kali Yuga, a little girl who was found in a garden at Sri Villiputthur wrote 30 poems that are sung in every temple till today! She sang one poem everyday for a month. Each of these poems reflect the essence of entire knowledge.
Her loyal and humble attitude won her the source of all wealth – Lord himself!
Elders say, there are only two scriptures that one can study and feel complacent that they have read everything. These 30 songs termed as Thiruppavai is one of the two!
The one month during which she sang these poems 5000 years ago is called Dhanurmasam and it begins on December 16th.
